2000 nm (2 µm) Infrared Lasers

2000 nm (2 µm) emission from Thulium (Tm) and Holmium (Ho) doped lasers aligns with water absorption bands in human tissue, enabling precise, haemostatic surgical cutting with minimal thermal damage. 2 µm sources are also deployed for plastic welding without chemical absorbers, atmospheric transmission, and mid-IR OPO pumping.

Key applications

  • Minimally invasive medical surgery and soft-tissue ablation
  • Direct laser welding of clear plastics and polymers
  • Atmospheric trace gas sensing (CO₂, H₂O vapor)
  • Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO) pumping for mid-IR
