Laser Diodes & Sources

485nm Butterfly Laser Diode

The 485nm series laser diodes are fabricated in a hermetically sealed 14-pin butterfly package. The laser diodes contain a thermoelectric cooler (TEC), and a thermistor to secure high-quality laser performance. The Laser Diodes Wavelength of 485±10nm, Output power: ≥20mW, Pigtail Type: 405-HP(Nufern) fiber with 900um loose tube, 1.0+/-0.1m, FC/APC connector. Our laser products are Telcordia GR-468 qualified and in compliance with RoHS Directives.

Application context

Why this design is used

Application guidance is tied to the configured wavelength, fiber interface and optical-budget fields for this family.

Laboratory optical integration

485nm Butterfly Laser Diode: Laboratory optical integration depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 485nm wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SM400, SM450, PM400, PM460) must match the connected components.

Fiber-optic instrumentation

485nm Butterfly Laser Diode: Fiber-optic instrumentation depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 485nm wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SM400, SM450, PM400, PM460) must match the connected components.

Optical interface and fiber
Fiber Type: SM400, SM450, PM400, PM460 · Fiber Buffer: 900µm Tube
Specify connector polish and fiber architecture together. FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA interfaces, and single-mode, multimode and polarization-maintaining fibers, impose different return-loss, mode-field and alignment requirements.
Wavelength and loss budget
Wavelength: 485nm
Check the Laser Diodes & Sources passband, insertion loss, return loss and power handling at the actual source wavelength; a nominal telecom-band label is not a substitute for the configured range.
