Manufactured by Mightex. Precisometer is a Mightex distribution partner: we quote, integrate and support Mightex products, with in-person support in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Choose this when…

  • Your source is a laser delivered through an SMA fiber (400 µm, 0.22 NA recommended), and you need high intensity: Mightex recommends the -DL for super-high-power applications.
  • A circular field of view is acceptable.

About the Polygon1000-DL

The -DL model accepts an SMA-connectorized optical fiber patch cord (400 µm core, 0.22 NA recommended) and is designed for laser sources. Its illumination field is circular.

Features

  • Accepts an SMA-connectorized fiber patch cord (400 µm, 0.22 NA recommended)
  • Compatible with laser sources
  • Wavelength range 400–1000 nm
  • For high-intensity or large field-of-view applications
  • Illuminates multiple regions of interest of any shape or size at the same time, with control of the start, duration and intensity of each pattern.
  • Grey levels can be configured to stimulate at different intensities across the field of view.
  • Stores up to 2,000 patterns in on-board memory and switches patterns at up to 6.6 kHz.
  • Pattern upload as fast as 4 ms per frame, for real-time projection and closed-loop experiments.
  • TTL input and output triggers (BNC) for synchronisation with cameras, light sources and electrophysiology equipment; TCP/IP control is available through PolyScan Pro.
  • Couples into the infinity path of upright and inverted microscopes through microscope-specific adaptors (sold separately), and integrates with the OASIS systems.

Applications listed by Mightex

  • Optogenetics, from cell culture and organoids to tissue slices and in vivo studies
  • Photopatterning, surface micropatterning and 3D biofabrication
  • Voltage imaging (restricting illumination to regions of interest)
  • Retinal tissue studies (photoreceptor stimulation)
  • Maskless photolithography for microfluidics
  • Structured illumination
  • Photo-isolation chemistry (DNA uncaging, gene regulation)
  • Optoelectronic tweezers

Patterned photostimulation on a microscope

Conceptual workflowFollows the three selection steps in Mightex’s Polygon guide (wavelength, Polygon model, microscope adaptor), with control added from the PolyScan page. It is not a verified configuration: we check how the parts fit your equipment before quoting.

  1. 1

    Light source

Pick the wavelength for your opsin or chemistry, in the format the Polygon input accepts.

  2. 2

    Patterning

The Polygon model follows from the source: lightguide, fiber, both, or ultra-high contrast.

  3. 3

    Microscope coupling

An adaptor for your microscope make and model; an expander if the port is shared.

  4. 4

    Control and acquisition

Software, triggering and a camera for calibration and imaging.
