Mightex · Polygon adaptors and expanders

IPX Infinity Port Expanders (IPX2, IPX4)

Expands one infinity-path port of a microscope into two to four ports, so a Polygon, a widefield illuminator, a camera or a laser scanner can share it.

Ports
IPX2: 2 (expandable); IPX4: 4
Compatible devices
Polygon, lightguide epi-illuminators, cameras, laser scanners

About the IPX Infinity Port Expanders (IPX2, IPX4)

The IPX lets several infinity-path devices use one microscope port without rebuilding the setup. It is compatible with all Mightex Polygon models and with Mightex and third-party widefield epi-fluorescence sources on a standard 3 mm liquid lightguide; cameras and laser scanners connect through adaptors.

IPX2 starts with two ports and has a modular design that can be scaled up; IPX4 has four integrated ports. Every port except port 1 has a pitch-yaw adjustable dichroic holder for centring the field of view, and the dichroic sits in an interchangeable standard filter cube with optional excitation filters.

Features

  • Compatible with all Mightex Polygon models
  • Compatible with Mightex and third-party widefield epi-fluorescence sources via a standard 3 mm liquid lightguide
  • Supports cameras and laser scanners via appropriate adaptors
  • Pitch-yaw adjustable dichroic holders on all ports except port 1
  • Standard-size dichroic in an interchangeable filter cube; optional excitation filters
  • Ports can be mounted on either side of the main chassis to avoid mechanical conflicts

Applications listed by Mightex

  • Combining patterned photostimulation with widefield illumination on one microscope
  • All-optical experiments that need several illumination or detection devices

Patterned photostimulation on a microscope

Conceptual workflowFollows the three selection steps in Mightex’s Polygon guide (wavelength, Polygon model, microscope adaptor), with control added from the PolyScan page. It is not a verified configuration: we check how the parts fit your equipment before quoting.

  1. 1

    Light source

Pick the wavelength for your opsin or chemistry, in the format the Polygon input accepts.

  2. 2

    Patterning

The Polygon model follows from the source: lightguide, fiber, both, or ultra-high contrast.

  3. 3

    Microscope coupling

An adaptor for your microscope make and model; an expander if the port is shared.
