Couplers, Splitters & Combiners

1x2/2x2 Dual Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber Optic Couplers/Splitters

This FC Series PM fiber optic coupler works on both orthogonally polarized light, providing a polarization-independent coupling function. It features good uniformity, low excess loss, and very low polarization sensitivity. The device is ideal for splitting or combining light with exceptional performance over a wide wavelength range. Couplers are highly efficient in splitting light with little loss, about 0.2dB per joint, but incur significant losses when combining lights; for example, a 50/50 coupler produces a 50% loss to each beam when combined. Application context

Why this design is used

Application guidance is tied to the configured wavelength, fiber interface and optical-budget fields for this family.

Optical power distribution

1x2/2x2 Dual Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber Optic Couplers/Splitters: Optical power distribution depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1060, 1310, 1550, 780, 850, 980 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (Panda) must match the connected components.

Fiber sensing

1x2/2x2 Dual Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber Optic Couplers/Splitters: Fiber sensing depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1060, 1310, 1550, 780, 850, 980 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (Panda) must match the connected components.

Optical interface and fiber
Fiber Type: Panda · Fiber Cover: 250μm, 900μm
Specify connector polish and fiber architecture together. FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA interfaces, and single-mode, multimode and polarization-maintaining fibers, impose different return-loss, mode-field and alignment requirements.
Wavelength and loss budget
Wavelength: 1060, 1310, 1550, 780, 850, 980
Check the Couplers, Splitters & Combiners passband, insertion loss, return loss and power handling at the actual source wavelength; a nominal telecom-band label is not a substitute for the configured range.
