Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber Optic Couplers/Splitters – Large Port Count up to 1x120

Planar lightwave circuit (PLC) splitter is a type of optical power management device that is fabricated using silica optical waveguide technology to splitter an incoming fiber into multiple output fibers. It offers large output ports at low cost with a compact size, than fused couplers. Polarization Maintaining Fiber Splitter is an optical splitter in which the polarization of linearly polarized light waves launched into the fiber is maintained during propagation, with little or no cross−coupling of optical power between the polarization modes. Available configurations are 1xN and 2xN up to 32 output fiber ports. The device intrinsically works for light of both polarizations, also it maintains one polarization.

Application context

Why this design is used

Application guidance is tied to the configured wavelength, fiber interface and optical-budget fields for this family.

Optical power distribution

Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber Optic Couplers/Splitters – Large Port Count up to 1x120: Optical power distribution depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1310, 1550 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (PM1550, PM1310) must match the connected components.

Fiber sensing

Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber Optic Couplers/Splitters – Large Port Count up to 1x120: Fiber sensing depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1310, 1550 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (PM1550, PM1310) must match the connected components.

Integration and compatibility

Use these checks to connect Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber Optic Couplers/Splitters – Large Port Count up to 1x120 to the surrounding optical, mechanical and control system. Every value shown is taken from this model's own specification record.

Optical interface and fiber
Fiber Type: PM1550, PM1310 · Fiber Length: 0.25m, 0.5 m, 1.0 m, 1.5 m, 2.0 m
Specify connector polish and fiber architecture together. FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA interfaces, and single-mode, multimode and polarization-maintaining fibers, impose different return-loss, mode-field and alignment requirements.
Wavelength and loss budget
Wavelength: 1310, 1550
Check the Couplers, Splitters & Combiners passband, insertion loss, return loss and power handling at the actual source wavelength; a nominal telecom-band label is not a substitute for the configured range.
