Couplers, Splitters & Combiners

1×3 Single Mode Monolithic Fiber Optic Coupler/Splitter

The FCTM series 1×3 Monolithic Single Mode Coupler utilizes Our fused biconical taper technology and compact packaging to deliver exceptional optical performance. With superior uniformity, low excess loss, and minimal polarization sensitivity — achieved through precision automated fabrication — this device is ideal for high-performance light splitting or combining across a broad wavelength range. Standard operating wavelengths include 1310 nm, 1490 nm, and 1550 nm, with dual- and triple-band configurations also available. The coupler is housed in a compact 3 mm diameter, 54 mm long tube, making it well-suited for space-constrained integration.

Application context

Why this design is used

Application guidance is tied to the configured wavelength, fiber interface and optical-budget fields for this family.

Optical power distribution

1×3 Single Mode Monolithic Fiber Optic Coupler/Splitter: Optical power distribution depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1310, 1480, 1550, 1310/1550, 1310/1480/1550 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SMF-28) must match the connected components.

Fiber sensing

1×3 Single Mode Monolithic Fiber Optic Coupler/Splitter: Fiber sensing depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1310, 1480, 1550, 1310/1550, 1310/1480/1550 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SMF-28) must match the connected components.

Optical interface and fiber
Fiber Type: SMF-28 · Fiber Cover: 900um tube, Bare fiber
Specify connector polish and fiber architecture together. FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA interfaces, and single-mode, multimode and polarization-maintaining fibers, impose different return-loss, mode-field and alignment requirements.
Wavelength and loss budget
Wavelength: 1310, 1480, 1550, 1310/1550, 1310/1480/1550
Check the Couplers, Splitters & Combiners passband, insertion loss, return loss and power handling at the actual source wavelength; a nominal telecom-band label is not a substitute for the configured range.
