Pulse energy, repetition rate, pulse width

PGL-FS-655656 nm red Q-switched pulsed laser

656 nm

The PGL-FS-655 is a 656 nm pulsed direct diode laser. Electrical current creates optical gain in a semiconductor junction, and the diode generates the laser light directly. Optical feedback selects the oscillating modes, while drive current and junction temperature affect output power and wavelength. Q-switching stores energy in the gain medium while resonator losses are high, then lowers those losses to release a pulse. Pulse energy and repetition rate must be considered together, because changing the pulse spacing changes the average power for a fixed pulse energy.
