Fiber Optical Power Regulator
The optical power regulator is engineered to maintain a constant output power by compensating for input fluctuations. It operates by tapping a small portion of the output light with a detector and feeding it into a precision closed-loop circuit, which controls a MEMS variable fiber optical attenuator positioned between the input and output. With a wide dynamic range, it effectively limits output against input surges of up to 40 dB. The output power level can be adjusted manually via a set screw or remotely through a USB-connected GUI. The system requires an insertion loss of approximately 2 dB to regulate the output power effectively. Additionally, it compensates for polarization-dependent loss (PDL) variations along with optical power fluctuations.

High Power Inline Variable Fiber Attenuator up to 20W USB/RS232
This all-fiber variable optical attenuator (VOA) provides near-lossless transmission in its open (transparent) state while enabling electrically controlled attenuation up to 10 dB and handling optical power levels as high as 10 W. It operates by applying precise bending stress to the fiber using a motorized mechanism, allowing controlled attenuation without significantly degrading signal quality, and is designed to maintain a high polarization extinction ratio even under stress. The device offers ultra-broadband performance that preserves the fiber’s intrinsic transmission characteristics and is compatible with various fiber types. It is typically used in feedback control systems with an output tap monitor for precise power regulation, and because generated heat is transferred to the metal base, it must be mounted on an appropriate heat sink for safe and stable operation.

Large Core Fiber Variable Attenuator USB/RS232
The HPLA Series VOA is based on moving fiber technology with a precision motor featuring low optical loss. This broad spectral band is only limited by fiber intrinsic properties and precision/repeatability for fibers with large core sizes up to 2mm in diameter. It is designed for high precision and high fidelity measurements with little optical mode dependence. Conventional light deflections and blockings affect light transmission characteristics, but fiber-fiber technology overcomes this by eliminating coating and Lens. The HPLA has two built-in optical position sensors so that once the VOA attenuation value is set, it will remain at the value regardless of the environment variations. It has a high repeatability of 0.1dB and a high resolution. Once powered, it is a latching device that can be operated in vibration environments.

Manual No-Gap Broadband Variable Fiber Optical Attenuator — Low-Loss
The Fiber-Fiber™ Series Manual Variable Optical Attenuator (VOA) delivers industry-leading performance with ultra-low insertion loss and continuous, perturbation-free light transmission. Its ultra-broadband operation is limited only by the transmission characteristics of the optical fiber, enabling exceptionally wide wavelength coverage. The patented Fiber-Fiber™ technology utilizes direct fiber-to-fiber coupling through a self-aligned MEMS platform. A microscopic gap of less than 5 μm between the fiber end faces is filled with a proprietary non-fluorescent, index-matching liquid, creating a nearly lossless optical path without the need for lenses, collimators, or anti-reflection coatings. This unique architecture virtually eliminates Fresnel reflections and minimizes insertion loss while maintaining excellent optical fidelity.
