Fiber Optical Amplifiers EDFA

Multiport EDFAs 1528-1565nm

The EDAR Series are low-noise, high-performance Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFAs) that provide the ideal building blocks for FTTx networks. It can amplify both analog and digital signals up to 100GHz. Integrated CWDM splitters are available to enable the routing of 1310 nm and 1490 nm data streams from the OLT to the ONU through the EDFA, reducing component count, lowering the FIT rate, and improving system performance. The EDAR Series provides a robust and reliable amplification solution for FTTx networks using RF video overlay. We provide solutions to handle mid to small-sized municipal networks while meeting the demanding requirements of large Tier 1 service providers. Our team of engineers and scientists will work with you to customize configurations. The EDFA has isolators on both input and output.

Application context

Why this design is used

Application guidance is tied to the configured wavelength, fiber interface and optical-budget fields for this family.

Laboratory optical integration

Multiport EDFAs 1528-1565nm: Laboratory optical integration depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1550nm, Special wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (LC/PC, FC/PC, FC/APC, SC/PC, SC/APC, LC/APC) must match the connected components.

Optical interface and fiber
Connector: LC/PC, FC/PC, FC/APC, SC/PC, SC/APC, LC/APC
Specify connector polish and fiber architecture together. FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA interfaces, and single-mode, multimode and polarization-maintaining fibers, impose different return-loss, mode-field and alignment requirements.
Wavelength and loss budget
Wavelength: 1550nm, Special
Check the Fiber Optical Amplifiers EDFA passband, insertion loss, return loss and power handling at the actual source wavelength; a nominal telecom-band label is not a substitute for the configured range.
