2.5, 5, 12, 25 GHz Fiber Optical Amplified InGaAs APD Photodiode

The APID is a fiber-coupled InGaAs APD photodiode integrated with a high-speed transimpedance amplifier (TIA), supporting data rates up to 25 Gb/s with differential output. It offers a flat response across a wide operating temperature range and is available with single-mode and multimode fiber coupling options, making it versatile for various high-speed optical communication applications. The multimode fiber coupling uses fiber tip lens technology for high efficiency. A matching evaluation PCB is available, featuring up to 8 GHz 3 dB analog bandwidth and SMA RF interfaces, with a single connector for single-ended output and dual connectors for differential outputs, enabling convenient testing and system integration.

Application context

Why this design is used

Application guidance is tied to the configured wavelength, fiber interface and optical-budget fields for this family.

Laboratory optical integration

2.5, 5, 12, 25 GHz Fiber Optical Amplified InGaAs APD Photodiode: Laboratory optical integration depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1230 - 1620 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SM28, 50/125) must match the connected components.

Fiber-optic instrumentation

2.5, 5, 12, 25 GHz Fiber Optical Amplified InGaAs APD Photodiode: Fiber-optic instrumentation depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1230 - 1620 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SM28, 50/125) must match the connected components.

Integration and compatibility

Use these checks to connect 2.5, 5, 12, 25 GHz Fiber Optical Amplified InGaAs APD Photodiode to the surrounding optical, mechanical and control system. Every value shown is taken from this model's own specification record.

Optical interface and fiber
Fiber Type: SM28, 50/125 · Fiber Cover: 0.9mm tube, Bare fiber
Specify connector polish and fiber architecture together. FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA interfaces, and single-mode, multimode and polarization-maintaining fibers, impose different return-loss, mode-field and alignment requirements.
Wavelength and loss budget
Wavelength: 1230 - 1620
Check the Transmitters & Receivers passband, insertion loss, return loss and power handling at the actual source wavelength; a nominal telecom-band label is not a substitute for the configured range.
Control interface
Driver PCB: Non, Single Output, Differential
Match supply voltage, analog or digital command range, connector pinout and default optical state to the instrument interlock. Confirm the unpowered state explicitly — it decides what happens to the link on a power failure.
