Fiber Optical Line Protection Switch (OLP), 5ns Fast Recovery

The optical Line Protection Switching System (OLP) uses a redundant optical fiber route as a backup path. We uniquely offer a high data rate of up to 200 gigabit and fast optical switching to reduce data loss with three choices of optical switching speed: ms to a few ns. By real-time monitoring the power status of both transmission and receiving in the working fiber, it can automatically switch to the backup fiber when the power value is lower than a user-defined threshold. This design allows the switch to operate independently without communicating, reducing reaction time. Moreover, our system has a built-in laser and detector to monitor the spare fiber line, ensuring its integrity at all times and sensing an alarm when a problem occurs. Our net-ready OLPs offer various reliable protection schemes against fiber cuts and network failures.

Application context

Why this design is used

Application guidance is tied to the configured wavelength, fiber interface and optical-budget fields for this family.

Optical signal routing

Fiber Optical Line Protection Switch (OLP), 5ns Fast Recovery: Optical signal routing depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1310, 1550, 1310/1550, Special wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SMF-28, MM50/125, MM62.5/125, Special) must match the connected components.

Automated fiber test

Fiber Optical Line Protection Switch (OLP), 5ns Fast Recovery: Automated fiber test depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1310, 1550, 1310/1550, Special wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SMF-28, MM50/125, MM62.5/125, Special) must match the connected components. The 10 ms, 100 μs, 100 ns, 50 ns, 10 ns dynamic specification sets the usable control bandwidth.

Integration and compatibility

Use these checks to connect Fiber Optical Line Protection Switch (OLP), 5ns Fast Recovery to the surrounding optical, mechanical and control system. Every value shown is taken from this model's own specification record.

Optical interface and fiber
Fiber Type: SMF-28, MM50/125, MM62.5/125, Special · Connectors: FC/PC, FC/APC, SC/PC, SC/APC, ST/PC, LC, Duplex LC, Special
Specify connector polish and fiber architecture together. FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA interfaces, and single-mode, multimode and polarization-maintaining fibers, impose different return-loss, mode-field and alignment requirements.
Wavelength and loss budget
Wavelength: 1310, 1550, 1310/1550, Special
Check the Optical Switches passband, insertion loss, return loss and power handling at the actual source wavelength; a nominal telecom-band label is not a substitute for the configured range.
Control interface
Power Supply: 48V DC, 110~220V AC, Special
Match supply voltage, analog or digital command range, connector pinout and default optical state to the instrument interlock. Confirm the unpowered state explicitly — it decides what happens to the link on a power failure.
