High Speed 1×4 Fiber Optical Switch: 100ns, 18dB On/Off

NSDW The NS Series 1×4 solid-state fiber optic switch is made up of cascaded three 1X2 switches. It connects optical channels by redirecting an incoming optical signal into a selected output optical fiber. This is achieved using our patent-pending non-mechanical configurations with solid-state all-crystal designs, eliminating the need for mechanical movement and organic materials. The NS fiber-optic switch is designed to meet the most demanding switching requirements of ultra-high reliability, fast response time, and continuous switching operation. The switch is intrinsically bidirectional and selectable for polarization-independent or polarization-maintain by the fiber type. Our PCB driver listed on our website is recommended to operate this device, featuring high efficiency and low cost with 12V DC power and TTL control signals.

Application context

Why this design is used

Application guidance is tied to the configured wavelength, fiber interface and optical-budget fields for this family.

Optical signal routing

High Speed 1×4 Fiber Optical Switch: 100ns, 18dB On/Off: Optical signal routing depends on preserving the optical budget through the complete path. The 1060, L Band, 1310, 1550, 1750, 2000, 780, 850, 980 wavelength specification sets source and detector compatibility. The fiber/interface entry (SMF-28, PM1310, PM1550, HI1060, HI780, MM50/125, Special) must match the connected components.

Automated fiber test

System integration

Integration and compatibility

Use these checks to connect High Speed 1×4 Fiber Optical Switch: 100ns, 18dB On/Off to the surrounding optical, mechanical and control system. Every value shown is taken from this model's own specification record.

Optical interface and fiber
Fiber Type: SMF-28, PM1310, PM1550, HI1060, HI780, MM50/125, Special · Fiber Cover: Bare fiber, 900um loose tube
Specify connector polish and fiber architecture together. FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA interfaces, and single-mode, multimode and polarization-maintaining fibers, impose different return-loss, mode-field and alignment requirements.
Wavelength and loss budget
Wavelength: 1060, L Band, 1310, 1550, 1750, 2000, 780, 850, 980
Check the Optical Switches passband, insertion loss, return loss and power handling at the actual source wavelength; a nominal telecom-band label is not a substitute for the configured range.
